Lent, in the Christian religion, is the observance of the time that Jesus spent in the desert. Jesus was led by the holy spirit, into the wilderness without food and fasted for 40 days. There he endured temptation by the devil. He was tempted to turn stones into bread because he was hungry (John 6:26, 31). He was tempted to jump from the temple to let the angels save him from the fall (John 2:18). He was tempted to become the ruler of Earth and take the kingdom by worshiping Satan. (John 6:15). Jesus was victorious over these temptations and we honor him for this every year. Lent begins 6 weeks before Easter. Christians seek to become closer to Jesus through prayer and fasting for these 40 days. Lent starts with Ash Wednesday and ends the day before Easter and leads up to Holy Week, which includes Palm Sunday, and Good Friday. If you’re observing Lent, strengthen your faith through coloring!
